PUBLIC NOTICE Update: Public Counter Service Hours from March 2022

Effective Monday 7th March 2022, due to staff capacity constraints and implementation of covid19 protocols, the Ministry of Justice will be reducing the Rarotonga office hours of when its service counters are open to the public to 10am to 2pm, unless by appointment. Members of the public are encouraged to call ahead on (682) 29410 or  email to schedule an appointment. Make an Appointment

This change will only impact services provided over the counter; court schedules will continue to operate as normal.

The Ministry of Justice is accepting applications for the following vacant and new positions based on Rarotonga:

1. Land Court Clerk (vacant) - Salary Band F, Range: $24,476 - $36,565 View Job Description
This role is integral to the administration of the Land Division of the High Court and related tribunals.  Key responsibilities include managing the courtroom and court records, and providing services to assist with land court applications such as land succession, occupation rights, and tribal titles.

2. Criminal & Civil Court Clerk (new) - Salary Band F, Range:  $24,476 - $36,565 View Job Description
The role of Criminal & Civil Court Clerk supports the administration of the Criminal and Civil Divisions of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Children's Court. Key responsibilities include managing the courtroom and court records, and providing services to assist with court applications.

3. Bailiff & Court Orderly (new) - Salary Band F, Range: $24,476-$36,565 View Job Description
The role of the Bailiff & Court Orderly is to support the administration of the High Courts, primarily the Criminal & Civil Division, and includes ensuring court security and efficient administration, and execution of court orders.

4. Senior Criminal & Civil Court Clerk (new) - Salary Band H, Range: $33,220 - $49,628 View Job Description
This is a senior role that supports the administration of both the Criminal and Civil Divisions of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Children's Court.

5. Senior Surveyor (vacant) - Salary Band H, Range: $33,220 - $49,628 View Job Description
The Senior Surveyor is a specialized role that supports the Chief Surveyor in the administration of the Survey Department, including plan creation and examination, survey compliance, and maintaining control networks.

6. Deputy Registrar - Registry Services (vacant) - Salary Band I, Range $38,701 - $57,816 View Job Description
The role of the Deputy Registrar - Registry Services is to support the management and administration of national registries, including the registries for births, deaths, marriages, companies, incorporated societies, personal property securities, and the electoral roll. This role works under the Registrar - Registry Services and Secretary of Justice. Familiarity with the Online Registry (registry.justice.gov.ck) is preferred.

7. Finance Officer & Receptionist (new) - Salary Band E, Range: $22,035 - $29,209 View Job Description
This role is to support the financial management and reporting of the Ministry and ensure cashier services are provided and trading revenue is processed daily. This is a vital support role requiring technical knowledge of accounting and banking, a high degree of customer service skills, and an attention to detail and accuracy to support Ministry operations.
