Same as births, The Registry Office only records deaths within the Cook Islands.

By law, you are required to register the deceased within three (3) days of burial. If the body is missing, registration can only take place after seven (7) years. For un-natural deaths, you will have to wait for the Coroners' report before the registration can proceed.

Only close members of the family can apply for a death certificate. You will need to show the death certificate of your parent if you are applying for succession to lands, if any, recorded under your parent\'s name in the Land Title Register.
